2003 Summaries

 

Cleveland/Van Nuys (3/14)

Matt Morris broke the school record in the 100M (10.79), as the Boys Varsity and Frosh/Soph defeated Cleveland and Van Nuys. The Lady Lancers were not as successful falling to both schools. Varsity winners were Morris, Brown, Hutchinson, Weatherspoon 4x100-45.36. Castellanos-Mile-4:55, 800-2:11, 2mile-11:09 Weatherspoon-400-50.86, 200-21.94, Gomez, Jackson, Morris, Weatherspoon- Mile Reley- 3:45, Hutchinson-High Jump 5'9,Triple Jump-38'1, Fonua-Shot Put-41'. Frosh/Soph was lead by Gilbert Campos and Jamal Flagg. Next week Reseda.

 

Reseda 3/21

The Boys Frosh/Soph were victorious this week against the Regents of Reseda. Unfortunately, the Varsity Boys and Girls were defeated. The Frosh/Soph were lead by Danny Regis, who won the High Jump, Long Jump, 440, and Triple Jump. The Varsity Boys were lead by Max Hutchinson, who won the High Jump-5'7t, Triple Jump-39', and Long Jump-20'2. Other winners were Castellanos-4:55-mile, 880-2:10, Weatherspoon-51.3-440, Farias-43'-Shot Put, The Ladies were lead by Jessica Davidson. Who won the 100-14.5.

 

Verdugo Hills 3/28

The Lancers regained some momentum by sweeping Verdugo Hills. The Boys Varsity was lead by first place finishers Jordan Castellanos-Mile-4:53, 880-2:12, 2mile-11:06, Ronald Weatherspoon-220-23.3 and 440-51.2, Max Hutchinson-High Jump-5'6 and Long Jump-18'4, Matt Morris 100-11.8, Jackson, Brown, Gomez, Weatherspoon 4x100- 46.23, Jackson, Romero, Gomez, Weatherspoon 4x440-3:47. The Ladies were lead by Vanessa Murray-High Jump-4'2 and Triple Jump- 26'5, Jessica Davidson 100-14.3, 220-29.9 Leslie Tadeo-330H-59.2 ,Cindy Lopez-Shot Put 22'7 and Johnson, Sosa, Tadeo, Tantousian 4x440-5:07. The undefeated Frosh/Soph was lead by Gilbert Campos.

Poly 4/4

The Lancers brought out the broom as the Boy, Girls and Frosh/Soph defeated Poly last Friday. The Lancer Varsity was lead by Junior distance runner Jordan Castellanos sweeping in the distance runs 880 (2:11), Mile (4:47), 2Mile(NA) and Senior Ronny Weatherspoon, who over came incredible margins in the relays 4x100(46.22), 4x400(3:46), 200(23.3), 400(50.6). The Ladies were lead by Jessica Davidson 100(14.5), 200(30.3) and Ashley Murray TJ (26’), HJ(4’). The Frosh/Soph was lead by Danny Regis and Gilbert Campos.

North Hollywood/Hollywood 4/25

The Lancer Varsity and Frosh/Soph defeated the Huskies and Sheiks. With the win, the Boys Varsity claimed its third consecutive league title and the Frosh/Soph's first since '99*. (The F/S was undefeated last year until the Bus Strike.) The boys were lead by Ronny Weatherspoon and Jordan Castellanos. The Ladies unfortunatly fell to both schools after losing some key athletes.

Canoga Park 5/2

The Lancers sweeped the Hunters winning the Varsity, Frosh/Soph and Girls meet. The Varsity claimed its 3rd year in row undefeated in league play and finished 7-1 over-all. The young Ladies team came in 3rd place but finised 3-5 overall losing to Van Nuys and North Hollywood by a very close margin. The Frosh/Soph finished undefeated going 8-0 and have won 12 consecutive track meets counting from last year. Next week the Lancers will compete in the Sunset Six League Preliminaries.
