City
Semi-Finals
Jordan Castellanos, Marquis Powell,
Ebony Crouch, Cameron Price and Ryan Campbell represented Grant at the City
Semifinal track meet. Neither Lancer
was able to continue to next week’s City Finals, good season Lancers. Next week
City Finals.
League Finals
Ryan Campbell won the boys 400 meter,
Ebony Crouch won the girls Long Jump, Shaquanda Caples won the Frosh/Soph girls
100-meter title and Kelly Dunn won the Frosh/Soph girls 100 hurdles. The Frosh/Soph
girls won both relays and now advance to the city finals next week. Other competitors advancing are: Cameron
Price in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Jordan Castellanos in the 800, Marquis Powell
in the High Jump and 400 meters and Ebony Crouch in the 100 meters. City
Quarterfinals are up.
League
Preliminaries
The Lancer Frosh/Soph field events
were finals this week and the team represented itself well. Vanessa Murray took
home first place in the Long (14’5) and Triple jump (31’5). Shaquanda Caples
came in a very close second in the Long Jump at (14’1). In the Pole Vault Pierre Nseir took home
first place (10’3) along with Amber Sepulveda (6’6). Tyrell Hillman came in a
close second to Nseir with a vault of 9’9. Next week are the Finals for all events.

Canoga Park:
April 30th
The Lancers were able to cap the
regular season with a sweep of Canoga Park.
The Frosh/Soph boys were undefeated for the 3rd consecutive
year. The Frosh/Soph girls finished in
2nd place while the the Boys and Girls Varsity teams finished in 3rd
place. The Lancers will be competing in Sunset Six Preliminaries this
week. VB-4-3,
VG-4-3, FSB-7-0, FSG-6-1
Verdugo Hills:
April 23rd
The Dons came in with a tough squad
and defeated the Boys Varsity and Girls Varsity and Frosh/Soph. The loss for
the Boys Varsity is only their 3rd loss in 5 years in league. The
Frosh/Soph boys defeated the Dons to claim at least of share of the
Sunset Six title. The Boys and Girls
team can claim a 3rd place finish with a victory over last place
Canoga Park next week. The Frosh/Soph girls can finish in 2nd place
in their inaugural season with a victory next week. VB-3-3, VG-3-3, FSB-6-0, FSG-5-1
North
Hollywood/Hollywood: April 16th
The Varsity Boys team suffered it first
loss in league in 4 years to the hands of the Sheiks of Hollywood but were able
to defeat the Huskies for the 5th year in a row. The Ladies lost to
Hollywood as well but narrowly defeated the Huskies. Both Frosh/Soph teams were
victorious. Next week the Lancer Boys and Girls can claim a share of the league
title with a victory over the Dons of Verdugo. VB-3-2,

Poly: March 26th
The Lancers were able to sweep the
Parrots as all four teams came up victorious.
Reseda: March 19th
The
Lancer Girls and Boys Varsity were defeated by the Regents while both
Frosh/Soph teams came up victorious. Boys Varsity event winners were: Marquis
Powell HJ, Nick Farias SP and Pierre Nseir-Pole Vault. Ryan Campbell ran a
fantastic final leg of the 4x400 relay to capture a win in that event. Girls
Varsity winners were: Vanessa Murray LJ &TJ . The Frosh Soph boys were lead
by Smith, Graham and Velasquez. The Frosh/Soph girls were lead by Shaquanda Caples.

Van Nuys: March 12th
All
four Lancer teams defeated the Wolves of Van Nuys. Lancer event winners were Manny Silva 110 H & 330H, Jordan
Castellanos 800, Marquis Powell 400 & HJ, Gilbert Campos 100, Franco
Stasilli 200, Jamal Flagg LJ & TJ,
Nick Farias SP, Pierre Nseir Pole
Vault. The Lady Lancer event winners were Rachell Jones 110H 330H & TJ,
Ebony Crouch 100 & 200, Vanessa Murray LJ & HJ and Sandy Ayoub SP. The
Frosh Soph Boys were lead by Charles Smith, Willy Velasquez and Terrell Graham.
The Frosh/Soph girls were lead by Shaquanda Caples. VB-1-0, VG-1-0, FSB-1-0,
FSG-1-0
Outlook:
The 2004 Lancers are looking to have an
outstanding year. This years Varsity Boys, Girls, and Frosh/Soph boys and girls
teams will be exciting to watch. The 3-time defending league champion Varsity
Boys team will be lead by 4 year Varsity distance runner Jordan Castellanos
and Sprinter Ryan Campbell. The Lancers will be lead by Jumper Jamal Flagg,
Shotputter Nick Farias, Pole Vaulter Pierre Nseir, Sprinter Gilbert Campos, and
Jumper/Sprinter Marquis Powell. The Varsity
Girls team will be lead by last year’s MVP Jumper Vanessa Murray along with
Hurdler Leslie Tadeo and Distance runner Nancy Guillen. Newcomers Ebony Crouch,
Yasmine Yahoum, Kelly Dunn, and Rachell Jones should help solidify the Lancer
squad. The 2 time undefeated defending
league champion Frosh/Soph boys will be lead by Charles Smith, Willy Velasquez,
Terrell Graham, Freddy Santizo, Javier Espinoza, Francisco Gutierrez, Roman
Martinez and Ricardo Chavez. The Girls
Frosh/Soph team will be lead by Shaquanda Caples and Cristina Maldonado.
