The Lancers represented themselves well
in the league finals as several Lancers were crowned league champs. The Varsity
girls 4x100 (51.65), Lauren Weatherspoon (100-12.99, 200-26.69, 4x100), Vanessa
Murray (HJ), Cameron Price (300H-41-75), John Fonua (SP) and Pierre Nseir
(PV). In the Frosh/Soph division, Armen
Vartanyan won the High Jump. Other athletes who qualified for the City Track
Meet are; Ricky Martinez, Erica Weatherspoon, Shaquanda Caples, Camile Williams,
Yasmine Yahoum, Nick Farias and Andrew Salg. Others who places were: Varsity Boys 4x100-3rd-45.41, Cameron
Price-2nd-110-15.96, Jessica Morgan-2nd- 100H-20.25,

League Standing: Boys and Girls Varsity- Runners Up

The Varsity Boys and Girls Varsity
ended the regular season each as runner-ups to champion Hollywood and Verdugo
respectively. The Girls Frosh/Soph was also victorious. Event winners in the Boys Varsity were
Cameron Price (110, 330), Mike Ghali (100, 200) Andrew Salg (Mile, 2Mile),
Ricky Martinez (HJ, TJ), Nick Farias (SP), Pierre Nseir (PV), Terrell Graham
(400). Girls Varsity; Lauren Weatherspoon (100, 200), Shaquanda Caples (HJ,
LJ), Karla Brito (PV, 330), Jessica
Morgan (100H). The Girls Frosh/Soph
were lead by Jessica Belle and Miriam Asarian.
The Boys Frosh/Soph ended the season with a close loss.

Canoga Park:
All Four
Divisons were victorious against the Hunters of Canoga Park. The Boys Varsity
and Frosh/Soph were defeated the Hunters 80 to 46 and 80 to 38
respectively. Events winners were:
Cameron Price (110,330), Terrell Graham (400), Gilbert Campos (100), Ricky
Martinez (TJ). For the Frosh/Soph,
Armen Vartanyan won the High Jump, Triple Jump and the Long Jump. The Ladies Varsity won 101 to 25 and the
Frosh/Soph 58 to 56. Varsity winners
were: Lauren Weatherspoon (100, 200), Vanessa Murray (TJ, SP), Shaquanda Caples
(HJ, LJ), Erica Weatherspoon (400) and Kelcie Hayes (100H, 330H). The Frosh/Soph ladies were lead by Miriam
Asarian.

Verdugo Hills:

The Lancer boys avenged last years
loss to the Dons of Verdugo winning 77 to 49. Event winners were; Andrew Salg
(mile, 2mile), Terrell Graham (400), Mike Ghali (200), Gilbert Campos (100),
Jamal Flagg (TJ), Cameron Price (330H) and Pierre Nseir (PV). The Varsity and
Frosh Soph Girls, along with the Boys Frosh/Soph were defeated by Verdugo. The Varsity Girls were lead by Vanessa
Murray.

Hollywood/North
Hollywood:
The Lancer girls extended this year’s
undefeated streak versus the Sheiks of Hollywood and nemesis North Hollwood
High. The ladies were again lead by Vanessa Murray winning the Shot Put and the
High Jump. Other winners were Erica Weatherspoon (400), Lauren Weatherspoon
(200), and Jessican Morgan (100H). The Varsity and Frosh-Soph Boys were
victorious against rival North Hollywood, but lost to the Sheiks. Event winners
were Nick Farias (SP), Terrell Graham (100), Pierre Nseir (PV), Cameron Price
(330H) and making his Varsity debut Andrew Salg (3200). The Frosh/Soph were lead by Armen Vartanyan,
Pedro Lebron and Edward Shakebazyan.
The Frosh/Soph girls won in a forfeit to Hollywood High but lost to
North Hollywood. The Ladies were lead by Miriam Asarian (TJ) and (LJ).
Franklin:
In
the first match-up between the two schools, the Lancer Varsity Girls were
victorious. The Ladies were lead by Vanessa Murray with 4 1st place
finishes (LJ, TJ, SP, HJ) and Freshman Lauren Weatherspoon who won the 100 and
200 along with anchoring the victorious 4x100 and 4x400 teams. The Varsity boys
tied the Panthers. First place winners
were Nick Farias (SP), Mike Ghali (200), Jamal Flagg (LJ, TJ), Ricky Martinez
(HJ) and Pierre Nseir (PV). The
Frosh/Soph boys lost to the Panthers. The Frosh-Soph were lead by Freshmen
Andrew Salg winner in the 800, Mile and 2 Mile and Pedro Lebron winner in the
Long Jump and Triple Jump. Frosh-Soph girls were defeated. The team was lead by Jessica Belle.

Van Nuys:
Van
Nuys high gave the Lancers a forfeit victory due to the Wolves team not being
ready to compete.

Outlook:
The 2005 Lancers are looking to have an
outstanding year. This years Varsity Boys, Girls, and Frosh/Soph boys and girls
teams will be exciting to watch. Varsity
Boys team will be lead by Seniors Cameron Price, Gilbert Campos, Jamal
Flagg, Mike Ghali, Nick Farias, Freddy
Mexicanos and John Fonua. Juniors
Pierre Nseir, Terrell Graham, Tyrell Hillman, Habib Tobejian and Ricky Martinez
should give the Lancers another shot at a league title. The Varsity Girls
team will be lead by 2 time MVP Jumper Vanessa Murray, Sprinters Yasmine
Yahoum, Shaquanda Caples, Emma Peckos, distance runners Sama Fazl, Magdalena
Barrios and the return of Senior Erica Weatherspoon, coming back from a knee
injury that left her out of competition since her freshman year. Exciting
new-comers Lauren Weatherspoon, Karla Brito, Kelcie Hayes, Jessica Morgan
should give the Lancers hope of a League Title. The 3 time undefeated defending league champion Frosh/Soph boys
will be lead by distance runner Andrew Salg, Edward Shakebazyan, and Armen
Vartanyan. The Girls Frosh/Soph team will be lead by Jessica Belle, Mariam
Asarian, Harlyn Rodriguez and Valerie Gutierrez.
